NEW YORK, I LOVE YOU (2009)

Thiz movie is an anthology about various love stories that sets in New York. It’s also a reincarnation of France movie "Paris J'taime" in 2006. A full all-star Cast members and directed by many famous Directors. The movie approximately consists of eleven segments. Each segment has its own unique style and atmosphere. I know that is very hard to criticize thiz kind of film where each segment could be the component of weakness or strength that can affect the whole film itself. So these are my evaluations based on the impression that left to me. Mira Nair segment tells about a glimpse of love with specific culture background, played by Natalie Portman. Portman also makes her directorial debut in one of the segments, which revolves around a little girl and a man spending some quality times at park, later we know that man is her father. Portman's direction just tries to describe the situation. Shekhar Kapur segment is the most thoughtful moment. We should take time to muse the wisdom inside. It’s all about love, tragedy and the meaning of life. The roles are played by Julie Christie, Shia LaBeouf, and John Hurt. The script was made by the late Anthony Minghella. Yvan Attal and Allen Hughes segment are more about passion and lust. Attal segment is starred by Ethan Hawke and Maggie Q.. It underlines love seduction. Hughes part is more about sex and the hesitation that comes along after one night stand relation, played by Bradley Cooper and Drea de Matteo. The Brett Ratner segment is probably the most easy-watching part. It’s about a unique prom night story. Thiz part is played by Anton Yelchin, Olivia Thirlby and James caan. I think Thirlby delivers a delightful performance here. Ratner direction is in standard level. And finally, the most hilarious part is about an elderly couple. The dialogue is so tickling. Thiz segment is directed by Joshua Marston. The rest of other segments just come through without any deep impression for me. Other famous performers are Hayden Christensen, Rachel Bilson, Andy Garcia, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, Shu Qi and many more. In overall, "New York, I Love You" could not give maximum freshness that what we have seen before in "Paris J'taime". Thiz movie might be not a specific movie about lovers, but more about love in universal way.
